Volunteering at Active Living Centres: Benefits for Community and Volunteers

Volunteers help programs and organizations in our community thrive. What do volunteers say about the benefits of volunteering? To help answer this question, we surveyed volunteers at Active Living Centres/senior groups between July to September 2022.

Volunteers reported personal benefits to their social connection and mental health. As well, 93% of volunteers agreed with the statement that volunteering made them feel like they contributed to the well being of older adults.

"Meeting new people, providing support and community involvement.” (Survey respondent discussing the benefits of volunteering)
